Our vision for DEIB
We believe every workplace should foster an intentional and compassionate environment where everyone can be the most authentic version of themselves. We call this Modern Belonging, and it’s crucial for employee well-being, productivity, and retention in the modern workplace.
That's why here at Modern Health, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are at the forefront of our efforts to help individuals succeed in both their personal and professional lives. By prioritizing community, education, and accountability, we are creating the foundation for an equitable environment where everyone can thrive.
Transforming beliefs into actions
Inclusion is a shared responsibility, so we equip our employees and providers with the tools to help each other succeed. Our team participates in regular trainings with DEIB leaders on topics such as allyship, anti-racism, and unconscious bias. These educational opportunities are critical to our vision of creating lasting change, because when everyone has the opportunity to unlearn and relearn together as a community, we are empowered to hold one another accountable.
Holding space
Designing for meaningful dialogue
Cognizant of the history and legacy of discrimination against BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, we have been working to provide space for those who have been underserved with mental health support.
Internally, along with their allies, employees of various cultural identities have created Employee Resource Groups. These groups are a community effort that provide brave spaces for processing and planning.
Externally, in June 2020, we launched a series of online Healing Circles to provide space for grief, healing, and joy among Black communities and to bolster anti-racism efforts among allies. These Circles have grown to support multiple communities.
Modern Melanin
Modern Melanin cultivates an inclusive environment for Black team members and is focused on championing equitable opportunities for the Black community.
Mi Gente
Mi Gente provides an inclusive and educational space for our Communidad. Our focus is on advocacy, empowerment, and liberation.
The Queer Agenda
The Queer Agenda creates an inclusive, safe, empowering, and celebratory space for the queer community within Modern Health. We advocate for our queer colleagues, providers, clients, and members.
Modern Parents
Modern Parents’ mission is to create a sense of belonging, tackle tough issues through a parenting lens, and give parents and caregivers the tools they need to care for their own and their family’s mental health.
Modern API
Modern API aims to be an inclusive space for those identifying as Asian & Pacific Islander. We focus on discussing relevant topics such as culture, history, discrimination, and current events.
